Directions

Entrance to the lecture will be at our Lothian Street entrance – this entrance has disabled access.
The Museum is situated in Chambers Street, in the heart of the Old Town, a few minutes walk from Princes Street and the Royal Mile. Chambers Street links George IV Bridge and South Bridge.

Our Lothian Street entrance is located on the main street of Bristo Place.

Bus
Buses 23, 27, 35, 41, 42 (Lothian Buses) go via the city centre and stop at George IV Bridge. Buses 3, 3A, 5, 7, 8, 14, 29, 30, 3`, 33, 37A, 37, 49, X31, X47 (Lothian Buses) and 77 / X77, X78, X81, 86 / 86A / 86B / X86B (First Bus) stop on South Bridge.

Train
The nearest train station is Edinburgh Waverley. Chambers Street is a few minutes walk from here up Market Street to The Mound and down George IV Bridge. The road is quite steep – visitors with mobility difficulties may wish to use the taxi rank at the station.

Car
Head for Edinburgh city centre. There is metered parking nearby on Chambers Street.

Facilities for people with disabilities:

- four designated public parking spaces are available for disabled visitors in Chambers Street -there is no charge for these spaces
- a ramped entrance to the Royal Museum Lecture Theatre via the Lothian Street entrance
- wheelchairs are available: please contact the Museum in advance on 0131 247 4219
- public lifts are available to all floors
- adapted toilets are available, some have baby changing units
- an induction loop in The Lecture Theate
- 'Hearing Helper' radio aids are available for loan at no charge: contact the Museum in advance if needed on 0131 247 4219
- guide dogs, hearing dogs and other recognised assistance dogs are admitted
