James Kynge graduated
from Edinburgh University in Chinese with Japanese in 1985. Following
graduation, he went to China, and has stayed there or thereabouts
ever since, first as a journalist with Reuters and the Financial
Times, and latterly overseeing the Pearson Group’s China operations.
James has travelled to every Chinese province and speaks Mandarin
fluently. His bestselling book, “China Shakes the World”,
examines the diverse impact that the world’s most populous
country is having internationally. It has been translated into 19
languages and in 2006 won the FT/Goldman Sachs Business Book of
the Year award.
